潘家园在北京是一个响当当的名字，它是全国最大的旧货市场、全国最大品类最全的收藏品市场、全国最大的民间工艺品集散地。因而说它是一个博物馆也不为过。

这里大多数物品就摆放在地上，人们穿行其间，可随意观看，也许就能碰到“宝贝”。一笔笔交易在买卖双方的斗争和兴奋中完成。这也是一个能给收藏家带来乐趣和财富的地方，流传着很多沙里淘金的故事，据说有一位老者只花了几十元购得一件带有铭文的元代景德镇釉上彩高足杯，这类元代彩瓷存世数量极少，价值极高。

前美国总统克林顿夫人，大名鼎鼎的希拉里每次到北京必到潘家园，每次必买走最少一车东西。而在这里，看操着流利中文的黄发碧眼的老外和普通话尚不完整的外地贩子一块一块的讨价还价，也是颇有趣的一景儿。潘家园淘宝，已经成为眼下的一种时尚。

Panjiayuan is a well-known name in Beijing. It is the largest market for secondhand goods and for a full range of collection articles in China. It is also the largest distributing center for folk handicrafts. Therefore, it is not exaggerated to say that the market is a museum itself.

Most of the articles here are placed directly on the ground. People can walk through them to take a close look at whatever they like, and sometimes come across a piece of treasure. Every day many deals are made and concluded after hard bargaining and exciting calculations. It is also a place that can bring joy and fortunes to collectors, with many stories of washing the gold out of the sands spreading widely.

Hilary Clinton, wife of the former American President Bill Clinton, would  go to Panjiayuan every time she visited Beijing when she would come back with fruitful results. Nowadays, hunting for treasure in Panjiayuan has become a kind of fashion.
